Matcha & Black Sesame Noodle Bars
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Servings: 16 bars
An East-Meets-West Crunchy Creation
Take your taste buds on a journey with these unique noodle bars. The vegetal, slightly bitter notes of high-quality matcha powder are perfectly balanced by the sweetness of white chocolate and the deep, nutty flavor of black sesame seeds. The chow mein noodles provide a light, crispy texture that makes these bars an unforgettable treat.
Materials
- 12 oz white chocolate chips
- 1.5 tablespoons culinary-grade matcha powder
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for a smoother melt)
- 4 cups chow mein noodles, slightly crushed
- 3 tablespoons black sesame seeds
Preparation
- Line an 8x8 inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the bars out later.
- In a small bowl, sift the matcha powder to remove any lumps.
Cooking
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and optional coconut oil. Melt in 30-second bursts, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Add the sifted matcha powder to the melted white chocolate and stir vigorously until the color is uniform and there are no streaks.
- In a large bowl, combine the slightly crushed chow mein noodles and black sesame seeds.
- Pour the matcha-white chocolate mixture over the noodles and seeds. Mix quickly but gently until everything is well-coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press it down into an even layer using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the bars are completely firm.
- Use the parchment overhang to lift the block out of the pan and cut into 16 squares.
