WINNIPEG, MANITOBA — It’s a quiet time in Winnipeg this month as many members of our collective are enjoying a much-deserved summer break. But even with many of us traveling, we’re still hard at work. This is a summer of stories, and as we fan out across Canada visiting friends and families, we’re capturing the sights and sounds of the places and spaces that inspire us.

Our journeys are more than just vacations; they’re an active exploration of the diverse environments and rich narratives that define this country. From the bustling city streets of Winnipeg to the tranquil wilderness of Nunavut and Northwestern Ontario, each photograph taken and every story shared contributes to a vibrant tapestry of experiences. We’re gathering these personal reflections and observations, building a unique archive of Canadian inspiration that reflects our collective’s curiosity and passion.

This fall, we’ll be collecting all these photos and stories for our fall and winter program. This initiative will see us curating and exhibiting the compelling narratives we’ve gathered, transforming our individual summer adventures into a shared experience for the wider community.

Get ready to see Canada through our eyes, as we bring the beauty and inspiration of our travels right to you.

Just look at that sun! It's like someone poured liquid gold across the open water of Hudson Bay. The light just dances on the gentle waves, stretching all the way to forever. In moments like this, everything feels peaceful, expansive, and utterly, breathtakingly beautiful.

From Exploration to Exhibition: The Journey of Our Canadian Stories

The process of gathering these stories is as varied as the country itself. Some members are exploring historical sites and engaging with local historians, unearthing tales of the past that resonate today. Others are venturing into natural wonders, documenting the subtle shifts in light and the powerful force of nature that shapes our environment. Still others are connecting with contemporary artists and community leaders, understanding the pulse of modern Canadian life. Each interaction, each captured moment, contributes to a comprehensive and intimate portrait of Canada.

Upon our return to Winnipeg, the real work of curation will begin. We’ll meticulously review the countless images, audio recordings, and written accounts, seeking threads that connect seemingly disparate experiences. The goal is to craft a program that is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant, inviting our audience to see Canada not just as a geographical entity, but as a living, breathing collection of stories. This autumn, prepare to be transported through the eyes and experiences of our dedicated collective.

Beyond the Frame: Engaging with Canada’s Spirit

Our upcoming program goes beyond passively viewing images; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in the living tapestry of Canada. Anticipate interactive elements, thought-provoking narratives, and opportunities to engage directly with the very essence of what makes this country so captivating. This isn’t just an exhibit; it’s a dialogue with the land and its people, designed to spark new conversations and foster a deeper appreciation for the diverse experiences shaping our national identity. We’re eager to share the profound impact these summer explorations have had on our collective, and to inspire a similar journey of discovery within each of you.

Members of the team and programming will return in early September.
