Reflections from the Shoreline
It’s good to be home this summer. I took this photo on a quiet walk just outside Arviat, where the land meets the sea. There’s a calm here that’s hard to explain unless you’ve felt it yourself—the kind that sinks in slowly, just like the evening light stretching across the shoreline. And the sky? It’s bigger.
It’s a big contrast from downtown Winnipeg, where a lot of our arts incubator work happens. That world is full of traffic, schedules, and constant motion. Here, everything slows down. The road isn’t paved, and the only rush is the tide coming in.
But this is where I do my best thinking. Being able to get back on the land this summer reminds me why we do the work we do—to stay connected, to honour where we come from, and to carry that into whatever we create next.
