Meeting with the Manitoba Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Program

This summer our team met with representatives from the Government of Manitoba and Manitoba Agriculture's Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Program.

This summer our team met with representatives from the Government of Manitoba and Manitoba Agriculture’s Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Program.

The Sustainable CAP is a five-year, $3.5-billion investment by Canada’s federal, provincial and territorial governments that supports Canada’s agri-food and agri-products sectors. This includes $1 billion in federal programs and activities and a $2.5 billion commitment that is cost-shared 60 per cent federally and 40 per cent provincially-territorially for programs that are designed and delivered by provinces and territories.

We’re very thankful to Wendy Carnegie and Mervin Traverse for taking the time to meet with us, and introduce us to the suite of programs that are available.

Next month, there will be some new programs for the Indigenous Agriculture and Relationship Development program. We hope you will check them out as there are some really great program opportunities for communities, businesses and organizations.

Chives: More Than Just an Herb

These small, tightly-closed green buds nestled amongst the glossy leaves of the pepper plant are a welcome sight and a critical milestone. This is indeed the flowering stage, a clear sign that the plant is healthy, mature, and ready to begin the process of fruiting. Each of these nascent buds holds the promise of a future pepper. With continued sunlight and care, they will soon open into small, delicate flowers, which, once pollinated, will transform into the crisp, sweet green peppers destined for the table.
