Materials
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- For the swirl: 1/4 cup brown sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- For the glaze (optional): 1/2 cup powdered sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon milk
Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
- Stir in the raisins.
- Gradually add the milk until a soft dough forms.
Cooking
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a floured surface, pat the dough into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough up like a jelly roll and form it into a circle, pinching the seam.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden.
- Drizzle with glaze while still warm, if using.
