Construction of new outdoor space in Melgund Township

Visitors to the Dyment Recreation Hall might notice something a little different this month: the old stage and terrace are gone. That’s right! It’s all been removed to make way for a brand-new, expanded stage and outdoor community space.

This month and into October, construction crews will be busy replacing the old, rotten flooring and roof. The new space, made possible with funding from the Ignace-based Nuclear Waste Management Organization, will feature lights, wiring, and sound for outdoor events, performances, and community gatherings.

As a program that focuses extensively on working outside and hosting outdoor arts and music events, we’re absolutely thrilled! It also means that we had to reschedule and re-structure a few of our end-of-season events, but otherwise, everything is running smoothly!

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of October 2025.
