Crafting a Central Gathering Place for Food, Arts, and Community Life in Melgund Township

The new Melgund Township Pavilion at the Dyment Recreation Hall is rapidly approaching completion. The multi-purpose structure is being completed this week. It’s a flexible, multi-purpose outdoor space that will greatly enhance the community’s ability to support a range of special events.

This new community asset for the Local Services Board of Melgund is designed to host a diverse range of events. Plans for the pavilion include serving as a venue for food-related activities, local markets, and community potlucks. It will also support cultural initiatives such as craft fairs and live musical performances.

The project is on track to be finished in time for Canada Day Celebrations. Special thanks to the Nuclear Waste Management Organization for contributing the funding for construction of this delightful new facility, which is expected to provide a dedicated space for community gatherings and events within Melgund Township.

Administrator

The Arts Incubator - Winnipeg is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.
