Meet the Artists who Make our program possible!
This summer, our program has been focused on empowering community artists in Northwestern Ontario by blending traditional knowledge with contemporary digital technologies. We’ve aimed to equip artists with the professional and operational skills they need to thrive, addressing the significant challenges they face in a struggling arts sector.
This initiative, which includes comprehensive training, mentorship, and opportunities for professional development, is made possible through the collaboration and support of many dedicated individuals. We are deeply grateful to the researchers, educators, creative entrepreneurs, and, most importantly, the artists who have shared their time and talent to make this program a success.
We extend a very special thank you to Gerry McArthur, a long-time Dryden musician and dedicated community volunteer. Gerry has been an invaluable supporter of our programming this summer, generously sharing his talents with the community. He has performed at key events like our Canada Day and Fall celebrations, and his expertise behind the scenes has been absolutely life-saving. Gerry did an incredible job, spending hours setting up all the equipment, sound, and wiring for our events, have now drawn more than 200 people from across Northwestern Ontario.
We are so thankful for his hard work, mentorship, and support, and for everything he’s done to help make our programming this summer possible.
This year’s program would not have been possible without the incredible support and funding from the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program. This year’s programming has also been supported by Ottawa-based Global Dignity Canada, the Local Services Board of Melgund, The Arts Incubator and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design Creative Entrepreneurship Program.
