This week we’re capturing autumn’s colours—learning to use digital tools while sharing everyday seasonal moments in Winnipeg.
This month, our daily photos will look at something we all love: Autumn leaves.
October in Winnipeg brings with it a striking shift in colour and light. The city’s streets, yards, and parks are covered in shades of yellow, orange, and deep brown as the leaves turn and fall. For us, this season has always been special. Growing up in the Arctic, we didn’t experience autumn in the same way—trees there don’t transform like this—so it wasn’t until we started living in Winnipeg a few years ago that we first saw this brilliant change of colour. Every fall still feels a bit like a gift, a reminder of how landscapes can tell their own stories.
Each week, we share a photo like this one. On the surface, it’s part of our practice of learning how to use content management systems—figuring out how to post, organize, and manage digital content. But more than that, it’s about slowing down enough to notice the details in daily life and sharing them. A single leaf on the grass, backlit by the sun, can hold just as much meaning as a large project or a busy event.
This month, we’re focusing on those little pieces of October. The leaves, the light, the way a small change in the season can shift our perspective. The collection of photos becomes a kind of journal, a way of connecting with place and time. Even in a fast-paced world, these simple seasonal moments ground us and remind us to notice the beauty right in front of us.
