Live Music Sets the Stage for Canada Day in Northwestern Ontario

Great music has always been part of the Canada Day Festival in Melgund Township, and this year’s celebration promises another enjoyable afternoon of live entertainment. On Wednesday, July 1, visitors to the Dyment Recreation Hall and Park can relax and celebrate while enjoying performances by Walter and Friends, along with Gerry and Tanya McArthur, as local musicians help create the welcoming atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the annual festival.

The live entertainment is just one part of a full afternoon of Canada Day festivities. Take in the performances while browsing one of Northwestern Ontario’s largest community silent auctions, enjoy a meal from the Cookshack featuring burgers, hot dogs and smokies, or stop by the kids’ lemonade stand. There will also be an artist and vendor market where you can support local Northwestern Ontario crafters and artists!

Door prizes and plenty of opportunities to catch up with neighbours and friends make the event a true community celebration.

Whether you’re visiting from nearby or making the trip from elsewhere in Northwestern Ontario, the Canada Day Festival offers a chance to slow down, enjoy live local music and spend the holiday in good company. Bring a lawn chair, stay awhile, and celebrate Canada Day with music, community and small-town hospitality.
