Apple Farming
Apple Trees and Apple Farming in Northwestern Ontario
Our Food Security, Apple Trees and Apple Farming program in Northwestern Ontario was proudly piloted in 2024 with the generous support of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and the Manitoba Agriculture Indigenous Food Systems and Agriculture Program. Designed to explore the potential of apple varieties and regenerative orchard practices, this initiative is rooted in community, sustainability, and food sovereignty.
Integrating traditional ecological knowledge with innovative orchard management techniques, we are growing more than just apples—we’re growing capacity, resilience, and local food leadership in Northern communities. Our pilot sites focus on learning about soil health, natural pest control, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability for apple farming in northern climates.
