Summer Arts, Markets, and Music Coming to Melgund Township, Northwestern Ontario
Placemaking, teamwork, and community spirit came together in a meaningful way this past weekend at Dyment Park, as residents, volunteers, and local organizations gathered to prepare the grounds for an exciting summer season of arts, events, and outdoor celebration.
The Local Services Board of Melgund and its Recreation Committee, alongside community partners Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture and Art Borups Corners, hosted a successful community workday focused on raising event tents that will soon host markets, live music, food vendors, and cultural gatherings throughout the summer.
What might seem like a simple setup quickly became something much more powerful. Working side by side, community members connected pipes, shared stories, and strengthened the foundations of what Dyment Park represents: a welcoming space built by and for the people who use it. Each tent raised is part of a bigger vision for a summer filled with creativity, connection, and celebration.
With the infrastructure now in place, Dyment Park is preparing to welcome a full calendar of community events, including the highly anticipated artist and vendor market series. These markets will showcase local creativity, handmade goods, and regional talent, offering residents and visitors a chance to support artists and small businesses while enjoying the outdoor summer atmosphere.
Join the Community for the annual Canada Day Festival
The excitement builds toward July 1st, when Dyment Park will come alive for the Canada Day Festival. The celebration will feature live music, food vendors, an artist market, and family-friendly activities that bring the community together in a shared celebration of culture, creativity, and national pride. It is one of the most anticipated events of the season and a highlight of the summer calendar in Melgund.
Following the workday, volunteers and community members gathered to share a barbecue, enjoy refreshments, and celebrate the effort that went into preparing the park. Burgers, hot dogs, laughter, and conversation turned the day into more than just a project—it became a reminder of what makes community events possible in the first place: people coming together with a shared purpose.
As summer approaches, Dyment Park stands ready to host a season filled with arts, music, markets, and meaningful gatherings. From live performances to vendor showcases and community celebrations, the park will once again become a central hub for connection and creativity in Melgund.
Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and community partners, the stage is set. Now, all that remains is for the community to come out, take part, and enjoy everything this summer has to offer at Dyment Park.
