Art doesn’t have to hang on a gallery wall. Sometimes it grows from the ground up.

This summer, Art Borups Corners is helping transform Dyment Recreation Hall and Park by funding the creation of a beautiful new flower bed while donating the first of several apple trees that will one day provide fresh fruit for the community. It’s an investment in a shared public space where creativity, nature and community come together.

Dozens of flowers have already been planted, adding colour, texture and life to the park. The project was made possible through the support of Art Borups Corners, with planting and ongoing development carried out in partnership with the Local Services Board of Melgund and Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture.

For Art Borups Corners, the arts extend far beyond paintings and pottery. A thoughtfully designed landscape can inspire just as much as a work of art. Gardens invite people to slow down, gather together and appreciate the changing seasons. Every flower planted, every tree established and every pathway improved contributes to a place that people are proud to visit and enjoy.

The apple trees are a living investment in the future. Each spring they will bloom, each summer they will provide shade and, in the years ahead, they will produce apples for residents and visitors to enjoy. Like the gardens themselves, they will continue to grow and evolve, becoming part of the story of the park for generations to come.

The revitalization of Dyment Recreation Hall and Park is about more than beautification. It is about placemaking—creating welcoming public spaces that encourage recreation, conversation, creativity and community life. As one of Melgund Township’s long-standing gathering places, the park continues to evolve while remaining at the heart of community life.
