The toast rests on a minimalist white plate atop a marble countertop. Photographed at f/2.5 aperture for dreamy bokeh in the background. Soft, diffused top-down lighting enhances the rich greens and reds, making the dish pop while maintaining a fresh, airy brunch aesthetic. Ultra-crisp high-resolution food photography.

Each week, we explore AI food art as part of our Food Art Fridays series. Our goal is to dive into the world of artificial intelligence, food styling, and digital photography, pushing creative boundaries while learning how to generate stunning AI food imagery that reflects real-world aesthetics.

This week’s focus is on a fresh, vibrant brunch aesthetic with a clean, minimalist style. The challenge: generate an AI image inspired by the following prompt.

A vibrant and fresh take on brunch: crusty sourdough toast topped with smashed avocado, thinly sliced strawberries, and fresh basil, finished with a drizzle of balsamic reduction.
A vibrant and fresh take on brunch: crusty sourdough toast topped with smashed avocado, thinly sliced strawberries, and fresh basil, finished with a drizzle of balsamic reduction.

Prompt:

“A gourmet plate of crusty sourdough toast topped with smashed avocado, thinly sliced strawberries, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. The toast rests on a minimalist white plate atop a marble countertop. Photographed at an f/2.5 aperture for dreamy bokeh in the background. Soft, diffused top-down lighting enhances the rich greens and reds, making the dish pop while maintaining a fresh, airy brunch aesthetic. Ultra-crisp high-resolution food photography.”

This challenge is designed to help artists hone their skills in AI-generated food photography, composition, and digital food styling. Experiment with lighting effects, textures, and plating techniques to produce a visually stunning, high-resolution image that showcases a fresh, elevated brunch dish.

We encourage artists to explore how AI interprets modern food trends, from minimalist presentations to the art of balancing colors, textures, and natural lighting for a crisp, photorealistic result.

Special thanks to the OpenAI Researcher Access Program for supporting our work in AI-assisted creative applications, high-end digital food photography, and visual storytelling this year.

About our Winter 2025 Arts program

Our fall and winter 2025 program in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is focused on exploring the intersection of digital skills, storytelling, creative entrepreneurship, and leadership in the arts. We’re dedicated to equipping artists with the tools and knowledge to navigate the evolving digital landscape, empowering them to bring their creative visions to life in new, innovative ways. This program is a space for collaboration and growth, where artists can sharpen their digital skills, explore the potential of emerging technologies, and build the leadership capabilities needed to drive their own creative ventures forward. This year’s program activities are supported by the OpenAI Researcher Access Program and the Manitoba Arts Council.
