Learning to assign ISBN Numbers
This weekend our Winnipeg hub will be teaming up with collaborators from Nunavut and Northwestern Ontario for some hands-on training on how to create ISBN numbers!
We’ll be walking through the ISBN Canada website from Library and Archives Canada, learning how publishers register and manage ISBNs. For those new to it, ISBNs (International Standard Book Numbers) are the unique codes that help books get catalogued, discovered, and distributed around the world.
This training is more than just technical know-how—it’s part of our larger effort to support oral history and storytelling projects across the region. Equipping artists with publishing tools, we’re making sure community stories can travel widely and find their place in libraries, archives, and bookstores.
It’s all connected to our arts and creative entrepreneurship program, which is giving artists the practical skills to share their voices, build new opportunities, and strengthen cultural expression on their own terms. We’ll start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, which is our usual time and all are welcome. For more information, contact us at info@artsincubator.ca
