Are you ready to be part of the most vibrant Canada Day celebration in Northwestern Ontario? Melgund Township is calling on its amazing residents and neighbors to help us bring our 2026 Festival to life! Our community thrives on the spirit of its people, and there is no better way to show your local pride than by helping us host this spectacular summer tradition. Whether you’re a lifelong resident of Dyment or Borups Corners, or a visitor looking to give back, we need your energy to make this year the best one yet.
Experience the Best Canada Day Events in Northwestern Ontario
From the moment the sun peaks over the pines, Melgund Township becomes a hub of activity. This isn’t just another small-town gathering; it’s a premier destination for Northwestern Ontario events. By volunteering, you aren’t just “working”—you’re getting a front-row seat to the magic. We need helping hands at the Dyment Recreation Hall to assist with our Summer Art Exhibition, the Silent Auction, and the bustling Artist and Crafter’s Market. It’s a chance to showcase the rugged beauty and creative soul of our region to everyone who visits.
Feel the Rhythm: Live Music and Entertainment
If you love music, this is the place to be! This year, we are thrilled to feature live performances by Walter and Friends, alongside the incredible Tanya and Gerry McArthur. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our performers—from stage setup to greeting fans. Imagine spending your Canada Day afternoon surrounded by the soulful sounds of local legends while helping our community dance the day away. Your support ensures the “Arts and Culture” in Melgund Recreation continues to ring out loud and clear across the township.
Savor the Flavor: Incredible Food and Community Spirit
What is a festival without legendary food? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help manage our food stand, where we’ll be serving up classic summer favorites like juicy burgers, crispy fries, and much more. The smell of the grill at the Dyment Cookshack is a staple of our heritage, and by joining the team, you help us provide that warm, Northern hospitality that keeps people coming back year after year. It’s hard work, but the smiles on people’s faces (and the great company in the kitchen) make it worth every minute.
