Green and Red Peppers

"Our pepper plants are starting to show signs of things really kicking off, with new buds ready to become beautiful flowers."
Art Borups Corners June 16, 2025
These small, tightly-closed green buds nestled amongst the glossy leaves of the pepper plant are a welcome sight and a critical milestone. This is indeed the flowering stage, a clear sign that the plant is healthy, mature, and ready to begin the process of fruiting. Each of these nascent buds holds the promise of a future pepper. With continued sunlight and care, they will soon open into small, delicate flowers, which, once pollinated, will transform into the crisp, sweet green peppers destined for the table.

Growing Our Own: Big Plans For Peppers This Year

It’s always a special time in the garden when you see those first little signs of what’s to come. Right now, on our pepper plants, we’re seeing exactly that excitement. Tiny, rounded buds are starting to form right where the leaves meet the stems. These aren’t just any little bumps; they’re the first hint of the flowers that will eventually turn into our delicious peppers. This year, we’re particularly thrilled because we have a lot of them – about 80 to 100 red and green pepper plants.

For anyone who loves watching things grow, seeing these buds pop up is a real treat. It marks a big step for the plant. Up until now, it’s mostly been about growing strong stems and healthy leaves. But these new buds mean the plant is getting ready for its next big job: making flowers. Each tiny bud holds the potential for a colorful bloom, and from each bloom, a pepper will begin to form. It’s a quiet but exciting show happening on every single plant.

So, as these little buds continue to develop, we’re simply enjoying watching the process unfold. There’s a lot of simple satisfaction in seeing plants move from just leaves to the first signs of flowering. It’s a clear signal that we’re on the right track for a good season, and soon enough, these tiny buds will transform into vibrant flowers, then into the crisp, colorful peppers we’re all looking forward to.
