Melgund Township Arts Exhibition to Feature Multimedia Work by Tony Eetak

For all of us with the Art Borups Corners collective, the upcoming 2026 Spring Arts Exhibition with Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture is a chance to see a familiar face in a new light. Tony Eetak, one of our founding members will be showcasing his ongoing exploration of photography and music at the Dyment Recreation Hall starting April 17, 2026.

Eetak’s contribution to the month-long event reflects our collective’s long-standing commitment to experimental Northern art. Based in Winnipeg, the Inuk youth artist continues to refine a practice that sits quietly at the intersection of visual media and sound. A founding member of The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and Art Borups Corners collectives and named a National Role Model in 2023 by the Canadian chapter of the international organization Global Dignity, Tony’s work has been supported by organizations such as the Canada Council for the Arts, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Manitoba Agriculture, Manitoba Arts Council, Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, Ontario Arts Council and the OpenAI Researcher Access Program.

Throughout the exhibition’s run until May 17, Eetak’s contributions serve as a catalyst for a broader conversation on what it means to be a “local” artist in a connected, digital world. His work invites a reflective look at how traditional roots and modern technology can coexist and thrive together.

Our arts show brings together creative voices from across Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba, with a special focus on the communities of Dyment and Borups Corners in Melgund Township. This exhibition weaves together visual art, storytelling, and digital experimentation, highlighting the unique perspectives that emerge from both rural and northern spaces. By connecting artists across regions, the show creates a shared platform for collaboration, cultural exchange, and community expression—inviting audiences to experience work that is grounded in place, shaped by lived experience, and driven by a collective spirit of creativity and resilience.
