I just discovered Art Borups Corners. My father Tom Findley lived just south of Borups Corners for many years, after making a canoe trip from New York City across North America to the Bering Sea. The canoe is still in a museum near Borups Corners or Dyment. He is buried nearby.
He moved out age 91 to live with our family until his death, and left the property and cabin to my daughter Emily Thurston. The family still visits the land in the summers from California and Ottawa.
I think Art Borups Corners might be close to/ on the same property as the motel that used to be at the intersection of Rt 17 and the road south from Dyment? If so, the family forest (which was not cut recently) is quite close.
So sorry to have missed this morning’s breakfast!
Thanks, Rachel! Your father is very well and fondly remembered in the community! He’s visited many of us for dinner over the years. We hope you’ll come visit us at the community hall sometime this summer when you’re in!
