Shirley Franklin’s work fills the lower-level art space at Dyment Recreation Hall this October.

There’s something worth seeing in the lower-level art space at Dyment Recreation Hall this October: dozens of paintings by Dryden artist Shirley Franklin.

Franklin’s work brings people, wildlife and familiar moments to life, with paintings that invite you to stop for a closer look. The exhibition offers a chance to spend some time with the work and see the range of subjects and moments that have caught her attention.

Open Mondays and Wednesdays

The hall and art space are open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Shirley Franklin’s paintings will remain on display until the end of October.

The exhibition is part of the ongoing arts and cultural activities taking place at Dyment Recreation Hall. The Local Services Board of Melgund and Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture continue to support opportunities for local and regional artists, while creating places for people to gather, make things and take part.

There are workshops, exhibitions, in-person and virtual events and other activities happening throughout the year. This month, a visit to Dyment is also a chance to spend an afternoon with Shirley Franklin’s paintings and support the community spaces that make these encounters possible.
