The Arts Incubator - Winnipeg

The Arts Incubator - Winnipeg is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.

Manitoba Talks is a public dialogue initiative presented by CBC Manitoba that invites Manitobans to engage in respectful, one-on-one conversations with someone whose views differ from their own. Participants answer a short series of yes-or-no questions on a range of timely and sometimes divisive topics. Based on their responses, they are matched with another participant whose answers differ significantly. The goal is not to debate or persuade, but to foster meaningful conversation rooted in listening, curiosity, and mutual respect. Inspired by a global dialogue model developed by ZEIT Online, the initiative creates space for individuals to step outside their usual circles and engage across perspectives. Conversations can take place virtually or in person in a public setting.

The snow is pristine, untouched except for the tire tracks, and with each step, the snow crunches sharply under my boots, the cold air crisp and still.
