A Plant Identification Walk with Jamie Bell
Join Winnipeg-based artist Jamie Bell for a unique plant walk at the Art Borups Corners Living Land Lab on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Jamie, a familiar face in our community this summer, grew up in the region and has a deep personal connection to the landscape. He brings extensive experience from supporting numerous community-based research projects across Northern Canada, offering a unique perspective on the botanical treasures around us.
This summer, we’ve dedicated ourselves to documenting the vibrant life cycles of the diverse flora thriving in our local environment—from budding plants and blooming flowers to ripening berries. These observations, coupled with a rich collection of accompanying stories, will form the heart of our exciting fall and winter arts program, offering a unique glimpse into the natural rhythms that surround us.
During this engaging walk, Jamie will guide you through the Living Land Lab’s beautiful trail system. You’ll discover many plants and flowers that often go unnoticed right in your own backyard. Beyond just identification, Jamie will share fascinating stories about traditional plant uses and help you learn which ones are edible.
This promises to be an insightful and enriching experience for all ages, connecting you more deeply with our local environment and its rich history. We look forward to seeing you there!
