Our incubator for digital arts and cultural entrepreneurship project has been up and running for just over two weeks now, and we are excited for the adventures to come.
Presentations and National Round Table at the 2021 Annual Scientific Meetings
This month is going to be a big one for our small team, as we present one of our very first projects: Recreating Environments of Inclusion, during the Inclusion in Northern Research sessions for the ArcticNet 2021 Annual Scientific Meetings. The plan was for this year’s activities to be held in person, but unfortunately that will not be possible and the in-person conference has been cancelled. We hope to be able to do more in the new year, but are excited to be able to still take part and showcase the work we have been doing so far.
Since last month, our team has been honoured to be able to work with and learn from the incredible people at LembasWorks who are facilitating the creation of this year’s interactive video exhibition, interviews with northern researchers and preparing for a national town hall session. In all, our team will be presenting in five sessions over the course of four days.
This weekend we will be uploading the final content that our team has been working on. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible first experience. The knowledge and understanding we have gained working on Recreating Environment of Inclusion will be instrumental as we explore the kinds of values we want to see driving the foundations of our new incubator program.
We express our thanks and gratitude to the ArcticNet Network Centre of Excellence for including us in their Inclusion in Northern Research initiative for the past two years of this pandemic. Even though we were not able to achieve all the of the goals we set this year, these experiences have paved the way for us to establish our new incubator program. We also thank the Arctic Buying Company for donating space for us to work and create and for providing us with advice and encouragement that our project can be successful. We also thank the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Cultural Entrepreneurship program for their ongoing mentorship and support.
