Cool new chapters from Winter City Stories
Welcome back to another daily dose of ‘Winter City Stories’! These little tales are plucked right from our ongoing creative arts and seasonal storytelling project, which has been a truly experimental and playful journey. We’ve been diving deep into learning, sparking our curiosity, and building up our digital literacy skills, all through the lens of fascinating winter narratives. It’s been a blast seeing how these stories come to life!
Each story you read here helps us explore the exciting world of storytelling, scriptwriting, and how technology can spark creative talent. We’re especially keen on how winter, with its unique urban vibes and Northern city experiences, shapes these narratives. Remember, this whole endeavor is super exploratory and experimental, always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in creative expression. We’re just having fun seeing where the winter takes us!

Design Notes and Applied Research
The exploration of Family Saga and Romance within Contemporary Fiction served as a foundational framework for this project. These genres inherently demand sophisticated narrative structuring, complex character development, and an acute understanding of modern social dynamics. Engaging with these elements directly advanced participants’ skills in plot construction, thematic development, and the digital research necessary to ground compelling fiction.
This initiative was a truly interdisciplinary experience, seamlessly integrating creative storytelling with essential information management practices. The process of curating these winter-themed narratives provided practical application for digital content creation, organization, and dissemination. It proved to be an exciting and highly rewarding collaborative endeavor, significantly enhancing our collective proficiencies in both artistic expression and digital literacy.
About the Project
The Unfinished Tales and Short Stories collection was an interdisciplinary arts and narrative storytelling experiment in 2025. It was part of a creative arts and participatory research project by The Arts Incubator Winnipeg and the Art Borups Corners collectives. It focuses on two key areas: AI-Assisted Storytelling and Scriptwriting, exploring AI tools for generating ideas, plot structures, and story arcs; and Talent Development and Training, studying digital skills, literacy and training needs for creative professionals by experimenting with AI and immersive technologies to inform future projects. Funding and support were generously provided by the Ontario Arts Council Multi and Inter-Arts Projects program and the Government of Ontario. We thank them for supporting the arts, digital transformation, and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research.
