Short Stories: Slices of Life from the Uncomfortable Quiet

A Collection of Broken Resolutions: Slices of Life from the Uncomfortable Quiet by Jamie F. Bell gathers raw, unflinching short stories about the moments when life’s façades crumble and vulnerability takes center stage. These are not polished fairy tales or seasonal romances—they are intimate, mundane and sometimes chaotic glimpses into queer life, identity, dignity and the emotional pressures of navigating expectation.
Every story here is like finding a single chapter torn from a larger, missing book. We never see what came before, and we’ll never know what happens next. Each short story is deliberately unfinished and left open on purpose: a playground for imagination, an experiment in incomplete narratives. Read them as you would overhear a conversation in another room—fragmented, suggestive, alive.
This small collection of short stories draws on the highly successful Unfinished Tales and Short Stories and BL Stories. Unbound. projects, which ran from mid-to-late 2025. This collection was published by our Arts Incubator Winnipeg hub as part of our ongoing digital literacy and interdisciplinary arts adventures.
