In a world reshaped by the challenges of the pandemic, kindness has emerged as a powerful tool for rebuilding connections, fostering resilience, and creating more inclusive and equitable workplaces. Social isolation—the loss of meaningful interactions—and social disintegration—the breakdown of community bonds—have left lasting imprints on how we live and work. The arts sector, known for its creativity and collaboration, is uniquely positioned to lead this transformation by placing kindness at its core.
This course, inspired by Canada’s National Kindness Week and global initiatives like Global Dignity, explores how kindness can revolutionize workplace culture. From decolonizing spaces and fostering inclusion to enhancing mental well-being and resilience, kindness provides a framework for addressing systemic challenges and reimagining the way we work together. Through thought-provoking lessons, practical activities, and inspiring examples, participants will gain the tools to embed kindness into every aspect of their professional lives, creating healthier, more compassionate, and innovative arts workplaces.
Whether you’re a leader, collaborator, or emerging professional in the arts, this course will guide you in harnessing the transformative power of kindness to inspire meaningful change and rebuild stronger, more connected communities. Let’s make kindness not just a value, but a practice that defines the future of work.

The Arts Incubator is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.
