This course, “Digital Arts for Cultural Entrepreneurship,” aims to explore the exciting intersection of digital arts and cultural entrepreneurship. As the world becomes increasingly digital, there are more opportunities than ever to use technology to preserve, promote, and share cultural heritage. Through this course, you’ll gain an understanding of cultural entrepreneurship, learning how creative industries can foster sustainable growth and innovation while celebrating diverse cultural identities. We will dive into the ways digital arts can play a vital role in telling the stories of communities, preserving traditions, and opening new avenues for cultural expression.
In addition to exploring the concept of cultural entrepreneurship, this course will focus on how digital arts can help promote culture and heritage on a global scale. You will learn about the various digital mediums—such as digital storytelling, virtual museums, interactive art, and digital preservation—that can empower individuals and communities to share their cultural narratives. Furthermore, we’ll introduce you to career paths in digital arts, highlighting how these roles contribute to cultural entrepreneurship. Whether you are interested in creating digital content or preserving cultural artifacts, this course will equip you with the knowledge and inspiration to pursue meaningful careers in the growing field of digital arts.

Instructor

The Arts Incubator is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect.
