Discovering Local Flora with Jamie Bell
Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2025 Time: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Location: Art Borups Corners Living Land Lab
Join us for a unique opportunity to explore the natural wonders of our region with Winnipeg-based artist Jamie Bell! On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Jamie will lead a special plant walk at the Art Borups Corners Living Land Lab.
Jamie is a familiar face in our community this summer, having actively supported various recreation and arts-based activities. Growing up right here in this region, he brings a deep, personal connection to the landscape. His extensive experience includes supporting numerous community-based research projects across Northern Canada, giving him a unique perspective on the hidden botanical treasures around us.
During this engaging walk, Jamie will guide us through the Living Land Lab’s beautiful trail system. We’ll discover many plants and flowers that often grow unseen, right in our own backyard. More than just identification, Jamie will share fascinating stories about how some of these plants were traditionally used and help us learn which ones are edible.
This promises to be an insightful and enriching experience for all ages, connecting us more deeply with our local environment and its rich history. We look forward to seeing you there!
