The first tiny berries are emerging in our Northwestern Ontario land lab
The strawberry plants are really getting going, and this week, we’re seeing the very first berries pop out! It’s super cool to watch all the hard work everyone’s put into the land lab program actually start to pay off – literally, with fruit! These little green bumps are such a great sign of how healthy everything is and how nature just keeps doing its thing.
Seeing them go from tiny flowers to these baby fruits is a fantastic learning moment for everyone. Each one means the pollination worked, and we’re on our way to a tasty harvest in a few weeks. We’re definitely keeping a close eye on them, tracking their progress, and can’t wait for them to turn that perfect shade of red.
And our arts program is buzzing too! We’re having a blast capturing all these different stages of growth – it’s like watching a living painting unfold. Blending the science side of the land lab with the creative energy of our art makes everything so much more exciting. Get ready, because fresh, homegrown strawberries – and some pretty cool art inspired by them – are just around the corner!
