This is the old Forks bridge, and it's one of my favourite places to chill out and take photos. I thought it would be fun to join in some of the activities Art Borups Corners is doing and try my hand at transforming a few photos!
Jumping in on Art Borups Corners’ Creative Week
This past week, the team with Art Borups Corners in Northwestern Ontario has been having a ball learning to transform their photographs into different formats and using all sorts of cool effects. We thought it was pretty neat, so we’re going to jump in and take part, too! After a busy couple of months of big events and getting back into the school routine, finishing up a few big events, taking a slower week to just play around with art sounds like the perfect way to recharge.
One of the coolest ideas to come out of their work this past week came from some of the youth and their grandparents, are thinking to turn their hundreds of summer photos into a colouring book or two! A few of the older artists in the group who paint are also creating templates based on the photos for others to use. This is a really neat way to repurpose their photography and storytelling activities, giving them a totally different spin and a new life as an interactive art project.
Using filters, photo editing software, and converters to turn photos into graphics is a fantastic way to explore different artistic styles. It’s a low-pressure, high-fun way to experiment with color, texture, and composition without needing to be an expert. The beautiful graphic you shared of the bridge is a perfect example of how these tools can transform a regular photo into a unique piece of art. It’s all about seeing the world through a new lens and finding the creativity in everyday scenes.

It’s a wonderful idea to shake things up and dedicate time to simply play. This kind of creative exploration is vital for staying inspired and can even lead to new skills and ideas for future projects. We’re excited to see what else the team creates as they continue to have fun with their mentorship course!
They’ve also been learning to use WordPress like we do, and one of their goals to help learn how to use the tools is to make a post every day. But that’s a lot of work, so by transforming their photos and giving them a different spin, they have some fresh stuff, and it helps them learn how to become experts at posting, uploading and editing records. So if you have time, check out their page at: https://artsincubator.ca/borupscorners (It looks like our site, but it’s actually separate. We cloned our framework and custom tools to help them get up and running faster.
