Our Steering Committee functions in place of a traditional board. While required by law to meet certain administrative and fiduciary responsibilities, our Steering Committee does not operate as a decision-making body in isolation. Rather, it supports and enacts the collective vision and direction of our membership and community collaborators.
We use a consensus-based approach rooted in dialogue, respect, and relational listening. Decisions emerge from the will of the majority of our members—not from imposed authority. When disagreements arise, we move at the speed of trust, always making space for Indigenous ways of knowing and doing.
The Steering Committee includes a mix of community members, artists, Elders, youth, and collaborators, with roles shaped by context, not by hierarchy. We value humility, transparency, and care over control, titles, or power.
