At The Arts Incubator, our creative arts and community arts programs are designed to inspire imagination, foster connection, and build vibrant, inclusive communities across Manitoba, Nunavut, Northwestern Ontario, and Minnesota. Through hands-on workshops, artist residencies, and participatory projects, we empower individuals of all ages to explore their creative potential and contribute meaningfully to local culture. The Art Borups Corners program was established in 2021 with strategic arts innovation funding from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse.
What Are Creative Arts Programs?
Creative arts programming includes activities that nurture artistic skills and self-expression across multiple disciplines—such as painting, sculpture, digital media, storytelling, music, and design. Our programs emphasize collaboration, cultural diversity, and innovation, providing accessible pathways for youth, emerging artists, and community members to develop new skills and engage in lifelong learning.
Why Community Arts Matter
Community arts strengthen social bonds and foster cultural understanding by bringing people together to create shared experiences. Our community arts initiatives focus on:
- Participatory public art projects that reflect local stories and identities
- Intergenerational workshops that connect elders and youth through traditional and contemporary art forms
- Collaborative exhibitions and pop-up events that celebrate diversity and encourage civic pride
- Arts-based community development that supports well-being, inclusion, and environmental awareness
Programs We Offer
- Artist Residencies: Supporting creative professionals to lead skill-building workshops and collaborative projects in Indigenous, urban, and rural communities.
- Youth Mentorship: Engaging young people in creative leadership, digital arts, and entrepreneurship through guided mentorship and practical experience.
- Pop-Up Workshops & Events: Mobile art labs and community events that bring creative opportunities directly to neighborhoods and smaller towns.
