A New Season of Art at the Dyment Recreation Hall
We’ve been busy getting the Dyment Recreation Hall ready for another fall exhibition, and this year there will be artwork to see on both levels of the building.
The Fall Arts Exhibition opens this Saturday, September 12, with the main event running from 1 to 5 p.m. The exhibition itself will remain in place through the end of October, so the opening afternoon is just the beginning.
One of the highlights upstairs will be an exhibition of work by regional artist Shirley Franklin. Other artwork will be displayed throughout the lower level, giving visitors plenty to look through as they make their way around the hall.
This year’s exhibition is supported by Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture and the Local Services Board of Melgund. Their support helps make it possible to bring regional artwork into a shared community space and keep the exhibition available beyond the opening day.
There will be more than artwork to see on Saturday. The hall will have artist and vendor tables, and we’ll have a music jam happening during the afternoon. The BBQ will also be running, with hotdogs and hamburgers available for anyone who wants to grab lunch while they’re here.
It’s an open invitation to come out, have a look around and spend some time at the hall. You don’t need to be an artist or know anything about art to enjoy the exhibition. There will be plenty of different work to see, people to meet and music to listen to.
The Fall Arts Exhibition and Music Jamboree takes place Saturday, September 12, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Dyment Recreation Hall. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
