A weekly dignity-themed short story from Art Borups Corners and The Arts Incubator

The Arts Incubator and the Art Borups Corners Storytelling Club are proud to announce the release of a new short story for youth and young adults, “The Robot’s Glitch and Daniel’s Courage.” This engaging narrative shines a light on the often-hidden struggles young people face, particularly around self-worth and finding the strength to ask for help.
The story centers on Daniel, a talented but anxious programmer whose robotics team is on the verge of a championship. When a critical bug threatens their robot, Sparky, Daniel must confront his own insecurities and communicate his difficulties to his tough team captain. It’s a powerful story about the dignity of the self, emphasizing that true courage often lies in vulnerability and understanding.
This release is a highlight of the Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba storytelling program, an initiative dedicated to nurturing young voices and fostering creativity across the region. The program, led by the Art Borups Corners collective, focuses on arts-focused skill development, providing young creators with the tools and mentorship they need to bring their stories to life. This includes crucial support in digital literacy, preparing them for a world where storytelling increasingly happens online.
“The Robot’s Glitch and Daniel’s Courage” stands as an example of the program’s commitment to diverse narratives. While this particular story focuses on a modern tech setting, the broader program actively supports and encourages a wide spectrum of voices, including those that honor and pass on traditions of Indigenous storytelling. Through projects like this, the Art Borups Corners collective helps young people develop not just their writing abilities, but also their confidence and understanding of themselves and their communities. We invite everyone to discover Daniel’s journey and the valuable lessons it holds.
