New Event Tents Elevate Melgund Township’s Community Spirit

Melgund’s outdoor spaces just got a fantastic upgrade, all thanks to the Local Services Board of Melgund Recreation Department’s latest acquisition: brand-new event tents. These aren’t just any tents; they’re set to totally change how the community enjoys the outdoors.

They’ll be an awesome new venue that can jazz up all kinds of local events – think lively community festivals, pumping outdoor music concerts, bustling community markets, and even smaller community get-togethers. This exciting step really shows how committed the Local Services Board is to boosting fun activities and building a strong, vibrant community spirit for everyone in Borups Corners, Dyment, and the surrounding area.

The spirit of community teamwork shined bright. A small group of dedicated volunteers and local artists showed up for a hands-on session, learning how to put these impressive new tents together. The teamwork and shared excitement that make Melgund Township so special was on full display. Everyone quickly got the hang of the setup, which means future events will run smoothly, without a hitch. This joint effort not only gets folks ready for upcoming fun, but it also strengthens the bonds between neighbors.

These new event tents are also a real investment in Melgund’s arts scene. They’re providing a flexible and easy-to-access enhanced outdoor venue that will truly help local artists, musicians and cultural groups show off what they can do. It’ll give them a great space to get the community involved in all sorts of creative ways. Whether it’s at festivals or special events, these tents are definitely going to be a hub for creativity and connecting people.

Now, everyone’s buzzing about the very first event under these wonderful new tents: the much-anticipated Canada Day Celebrations. This highly-anticipated yearly tradition always brings in huge crowds from Dyment, Borups Corners, Dryden and the surrounding area, and this year’s looking even more spectacular. The new tents mean more comfort and flexibility, making it an even better experience for everyone who comes out to celebrate this important national holiday.

The Arts Incubator - Winnipeg is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.
