Just soaking in the incredible details of this summer lupin! Those blues and purples, the intricate layering... it's a whole art piece in itself. Getting so much inspiration from nature's own designs lately!

Just soaking in the incredible details of this summer lupin! Those blues and purples, the intricate layering... it's a whole art piece in itself. Getting so much inspiration from nature's own designs lately!

A closer look at the vibrant hues and intricate patterns of a summer bloom, inspiring our art and observation.

You know, sometimes a flower just stops you in your tracks. This lupine, with its intense purples, blues, and that electric lime green core, is absolutely one of those moments. It’s not just a splash of colour; it’s a whole architectural marvel. Just look at the way those individual petals layer and spiral upwards, almost like a miniature, organic skyscraper reaching for the sun. The sheer vibrancy of it all just screams “summer,” doesn’t it?

For us in the arts program, this is pure gold. We’re drawn in by those incredible shapes and lines – the perfect symmetry mixed with the wild, unpredictable flourish of growth. There’s a fascinating rhythm in how the colours shift, from the deep, grounded blues at the base to the brighter, almost neon green at the very top. It’s a challenge and a joy to try and capture that complexity, whether it’s through brushstrokes, lens, or even just a contemplative sketch.

It reminds us that inspiration is everywhere, especially when you take a moment to really see. This lupine isn’t just a plant; it’s a living sculpture, a riot of colour and form that invites us to look closer, to appreciate the fleeting beauty in nature, and to let it spark our own creative energy. Truly a breathtaking sight this time of year!

Art Borups Corners is a dynamic participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. The program was founded in 2014, with its arts incubator established in 2021 and 2022 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.
