“Exploring Nuclear Waste Management in Our Backyard” is an interactive course designed to engage learners in the important conversation about nuclear waste management and the Deep Geological Repository (DGR) initiative. This course connects the science and technology behind nuclear waste storage with its impact on local communities, specifically focusing on the Revell Site and its role in shaping long-term environmental safety.
Throughout the course, learners will explore key concepts like Adaptive Phased Management (APM), radiation, and the function of DGRs, all while understanding the ethical, environmental, and economic challenges tied to nuclear waste storage in their own region. The course offers a blend of scientific insight and real-world examples, inviting learners to think critically about how these issues affect their community and the environment.
Learners will also discover the processes behind site selection, learn about the principles of sustainability and safety, and engage with diverse perspectives on this complex topic. By the end of the course, learners will feel more confident in their understanding of nuclear waste management, with the tools and knowledge to actively participate in conversations and decisions about the future of both their community and the planet.

The Arts Incubator is a participatory arts collective and living lab, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It's a space where innovation and creativity thrive. It's latest iteration was launched in 2021 with funding and support from the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse. Today, working with students and faculty from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, we fuse traditional and participatory media arts with artificial intelligence, music, storytelling and community-driven, land-based artist residencies to cultivate new voices and bold ideas. Whether through collaborative projects or immersive experiences, our small but vibrant community supports creators to explore, experiment, and connect. Join us at the intersection of artistry, technology, culture and community—where every moment is a new opportunity to create.
