A Full House for Country Twist!

What a day at the Dyment Recreation Hall! Country Twist, featuring the talented Gerry McArthur, Tanya McArthur, and Maurice Betournay, truly rocked the house today, playing to a full audience that was ready to celebrate. With dancing, a constant stream of lively tunes, and so many other activities happening around the complex, it was truly a fantastic Canada Day for everyone who came out.

A massive thank you goes out to the Local Services Board of Melgund for their incredible support in making such a vibrant and fun event possible. Their dedication to the community shone through, creating a day packed with good times and neighbourly cheer. It’s events like these that truly bring Melgund Township to life!

February Family Day Festival

Our formal submission to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) regarding the NWMO Deep Geological Repository (DGR) at the Revell Site (Reference 88774) provides a comprehensive 100-page technical audit and procedural review of the Initial Project Description. As the Borups Corners community—the closest settlement to the proposed nuclear waste repository—we are challenging the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s "host-centric" willingness model, which overlooks the Section 35 rights of neighboring First Nations and excludes unorganized territories and unincorporated townships like Melgund. Our intervention addresses critical environmental impact gaps, including water stewardship, hydrogeological risks, and the lack of Indigenous social and health baseline data. This public comment highlights the socio-economic strain on local infrastructure and the safety risks of a multi-generational project spanning 160 years. To ensure a rigorous federal impact assessment, our detailed recommendations and mitigation strategies for the NWMO Revell Site are now available for download via the IAAC registry and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) public repository.
