About the Event

MOMENTUM 2026 continues its dynamic summer series with Session 4, hosted at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design on August 5 and 6. This two-day gathering brings together participants from across disciplines to engage in thoughtful dialogue, collaborative exploration, and forward-looking design around one of the most pressing questions facing organizations today.

This year’s theme, Expanding Choices for Board Models, focuses on reimagining how non-profit boards are structured and how they function. Participants will work collectively to develop innovative alternatives to traditional governance models—approaches that better reflect evolving community needs, equity considerations, and organizational realities.

Each day will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with additional optional networking and cultural activities taking place in the evenings on August 4 and 5. These informal sessions offer opportunities to deepen connections, share perspectives, and experience the local creative community.

Whether you are a practitioner, researcher, artist, or organizational leader, Session 4 offers a unique space to contribute to—and benefit from—a growing body of shared knowledge and experimentation.

After registration, participants will receive updates on pre-read materials and invitations to provide information to the central information pool. Materials and ideas generated in Minneapolis will be assembled and passed forward to all 2026 MOMENTUM Attendees. All materials generated from the entire MOMENTUM series will be provided to all participants from the entire summer and all share in collective rights to activate any of those materials and ideas, with crediting to MOMENTUM and MOMENTUM participants as reasonable.
