Dryden Artist Showcases Striking Watercolour Series at 2026 Spring Exhibition in Melgund Township
Dryden artist Tanya McArthur is featured at this year’s Spring Arts Exhibition, where her latest body of work places a strong and captivating focus on watercolour. Known in the region for her presence in the music scene, Tanya is now drawing attention in the gallery with a collection of delicate yet vivid floral and landscape paintings that highlight both technical growth and artistic depth.
In recent years, McArthur expanded her long-standing painting practice into watercolour, and the results are a standout feature of this year’s exhibition. Her new works explore the softness, movement, and unpredictability of the medium—capturing blooming florals, natural textures, and Northern landscapes with a sense of calm precision and expressive colour. Using a combination of traditional watercolour techniques alongside tools like watercolour pencils and markers, she brings layered detail and subtle contrast to each piece.
This shift marks an exciting evolution in McArthur’s work. While she has spent years developing her style through acrylics—painting realistic animals and landscapes on surfaces ranging from canvas to wood and metal—her watercolour series offers something more intimate and atmospheric. The pieces on display invite viewers to slow down and take in the quiet beauty of the natural world, rendered through fluid brushwork and thoughtful composition.
Rooted in a lifetime of creativity shaped by family, craft, and connection to the land, McArthur’s work continues to evolve while staying grounded in tradition. Her current collection reflects both her willingness to explore new directions and her deep appreciation for the environments that inspire her.
