Monthly website visits (2025–2026), highlighting the record-breaking surge toward our one-millionth visit milestone this April.
A Milestone Year for our site
The Arts Incubator Winnipeg web site reached a historic milestone today, officially crossing the 1,000,000 visit mark for the 2026 calendar year. This achievement comes just 103 days into the year, highlighting an unprecedented period of growth for our digital community of artists and readers.
A Trajectory of Growth
Our journey to one million has been a story of rapid acceleration. In January 2025, the site saw roughly 24,000 monthly visits. By March 2026, that number climbed to over 358,000. April is already on track to shatter that record again, with a projected year-to-date total of over 1.2 million visits by the end of the month.
When we first launched this program—seeded by the Canada Council for the Arts Digital Greenhouse—our goal was simple and humble: to explore digital transformation and build new skills as a small community arts program. We wanted to see if technology could help us find new ways to connect and create. Now, entering our fourth year and still growing, we are moved to see that this “experiment” has grown into a vibrant, living ecosystem.
Whether we have ten visitors or a million, our mission remains the same: to provide a space where innovation and creativity thrive, and where every member of our community has the tools to tell their story.
What’s Driving the Traffic?
While the raw numbers are exciting, what truly matters is what people are reading. Our analytics for this month show a community that is deeply engaged with local arts, exhibitions and creative writing.
- The Spring Short Story Collection: Once readers arrive, they are staying. Stories like Dead Water, The Friday Crisis, An Unwanted Delivery and Cringe in the Boardroom have seen massive engagement, suggesting there is a hungry audience for local, high-quality fiction.
- Genre Deep-Dives (Adventure Leads the Way): Once on the site, readers are gravitating toward specific storytelling niches. Our Adventure genre is the clear fan favorite this spring, followed closely by Coming-of-Age and Science Fiction & Fantasy. This “genre-hopping” behavior shows that our audience values the breadth of voices the Incubator supports.
- The “Analysis” Audience: We’ve also noted a dedicated segment of readers engaging with our literary analyses that started with our experiments last year with Unfinished Tales and Short Stories. From deep dives into BL stories to breakdowns of our Spring collection, our audience isn’t just reading for entertainment, they’re engaging with the “how” and “why” of the creative process.
- Community Support: We owe a huge thank you to partners like Art Borups Corners and Melgund Recreation, whose consistent support and curation have helped connect our stories with readers in rural communities and beyond.
Almost everything we do is simply for fun. We love to experiment and explore! And we often break stuff. But that’s part of learning, exploring and what we find most exciting. We never really know what will come next.
What’s Next?
As we look toward the rest of 2026, we are focused on turning this traffic into even more opportunities for our members. And there’s a lot coming up. We’re thrilled to help support the Under $100 Art Show coming up in August and with more seasonal story collections in the works, we are excited to see where the next million visits will take us.
Thank you to our readers, artists, and contributors for being part of this million-strong community!
