Welcome to the definitive digital archive of Winter Stories, a collaborative collection of short stories to read, flash fiction, and experimental narratives produced through community-based arts and digital literacy workshops in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.
A growing short story library and digital literacy initiative that explores storytelling through unfinished tales and experimental fiction. These open-ended narratives encourage critical thinking, creative reading, and modern digital storytelling skills.

Our formal submission to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) regarding the NWMO Deep Geological Repository (DGR) at the Revell Site (Reference 88774) provides a comprehensive 100-page technical audit and procedural review of the Initial Project Description. As the Borups Corners community—the closest settlement to the proposed nuclear waste repository—we are challenging the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s "host-centric" willingness model, which overlooks the Section 35 rights of neighboring First Nations and excludes unorganized territories and unincorporated townships like Melgund. Our intervention addresses critical environmental impact gaps, including water stewardship, hydrogeological risks, and the lack of Indigenous social and health baseline data. This public comment highlights the socio-economic strain on local infrastructure and the safety risks of a multi-generational project spanning 160 years. To ensure a rigorous federal impact assessment, our detailed recommendations and mitigation strategies for the NWMO Revell Site are now available for download via the IAAC registry and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) public repository.

The Dyment Recreation Hall is evolving. We are thrilled to introduce our new library and exhibition corner—a dedicated hub for digital literacy, professional publishing, and cultural preservation. From teaching youth the art of digital storytelling to seeing local voices reach international bookstores, this space bridges the gap between community heritage and global reach.
