We had walked past it countless times, never realizing it was quietly growing all around us—hiding its delicate white bloom beneath its leaves. Once we finally noticed it, we began to understand why so many traditional plants are described as humble teachers.

Join Winnipeg-based artist Jamie Bell for a unique plant walk at the Art Borups Corners Living Land Lab on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Jamie, a familiar face in our community this summer, grew up in the region and has a deep personal connection to the landscape. He brings extensive experience from supporting numerous community-based research projects across Northern Canada, offering a unique perspective on the botanical treasures around us.

During this engaging walk, Jamie will guide you through the Living Land Lab’s beautiful trail system. You’ll discover many plants and flowers that often go unnoticed right in your own backyard. Beyond just identification, Jamie will share fascinating stories about traditional plant uses and help you learn which ones are edible.
