@1860: Project Planning Meeting

We try to organize our programming so that the first Monday of each month focuses on project administration, planning and organization. This week’s meeting will mostly be about finalizing our project planning for the year ahead.

Tonight we will also go through the October 2023 Update for the Niriqatiginnga project.

With everyone back from the Kivalliq Trade Show and school schedules mostly on track, we want to finalize our meeting schedule from October until the end of March. Many of our meetings and workshops are already scheduled, but we still have a few weeks to flesh out. If anyone has any ideas on meeting topics, project ideas or guest speakers all suggestions are welcome!

With everyone’s schedules for school, work, activities, etc. pretty much in place, we will also have a group discussion about shifting some of our meetings to happen on Friday afternoons. This is being brought up because several members of the project want to be able to take part in some of the community conversations with the University of Victoria Community Based Research Lab. We really enjoy the sessions, and learn a lot from them and would like to see that participation accommodated and where we might be able to have a few additional members joining in person.

October also has deadlines for funding programs. Tonight we will be working on proposals for the Manitoba Arts Council Indigenous 360 Program and discussing a potential submission to the Trebek Initiative. We will also do a bit of planning and preparation for Global Dignity Day, which will take place on October 18.
