Tony Eetak re-connects with Jordan Konek, both from Arviat, Nunavut on campus at the University of Winnipeg during the Inuit Studies Conference earlier this month. Ten years ago this October, Jordan was a student with the original Nanisiniq Arviat History Project. This project draws on many of those early experiences.
A special and unexpected opportunity to explore careers in media came while we were all attending a closing session for the Inuit Studies Conference. Our project's participating artists were able to get hands-on with CBC North's Pauline Pemik and Jaison Empson as they interviewed the youth for CBC News and CBC Igalaaq.
