Mona’s Secret Songs

A new short story, "Mona's Secret Songs" by young Inuk author Tony Eetak, is now available, offering young readers a thoughtful look at kindness and standing up for others in the digital age. The story introduces Mona, a student who finds herself in a tricky situation when her friends use a secret music app to create a mean playlist targeting a classmate. Instead of confronting them directly, Mona quietly uses the same app to add songs of encouragement, showing a different path.

Into the National Record

This week, our storytelling club took an important step in ensuring that our work will be preserved for generations to come. We submitted our first Digital Legal Deposit to Library and Archives Canada (LAC). The submission included the EPUB edition of our book Where Dignity Grows: Stories of Self, Others, Nature, and Community. While the process itself is straightforward—uploading the digital file along with basic publisher information—it carries great meaning. By depositing our publication, we are contributing to Canada’s national collection and making sure that our voices are part of the country’s permanent cultural record.

The Sakoose Compass

This story is a proud outcome of the Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba storytelling program, an initiative spearheaded by the Art Borups Corners collective. The program is dedicated to fostering new voices and narratives from our region, ensuring that local experiences and perspectives find a wider audience. Through projects like "The Sakoose Compass," the collective provides vital arts-focused skill development, equipping emerging writers like Jamie Bell with the tools to share their unique visions.
