Transition & Future Planning
Community representatives and members, including Pat Daignault, Sean Merritt, Norm Eady, Jason Holroyd, Karen Daignault, Terri Bell, Jamie Bell, and Maurice Betournay, met on Monday, November 17, 2025, immediately following the community LSB meeting. The meeting began at 7:50 p.m.
New Business
This special session was dedicated to plans for formalizing community programs. Jamie Bell presented a comprehensive overview of the group’s intention to establish a non-profit recreation provider that will offer formal support for arts, recreation, and culture initiatives in the community. This includes reviewing this year’s programming and setting a strategic direction for future growth and sustainability. Click here to view the presentation.
The work of Art Borups Corners and youth involved with this year’s Global Dignity Day activities was recognized in the House of Commons on October 9, 2025 by Giovanna Mingarelli, Member of Parliament for Prescott—Russell—Cumberland.
A key discussion point centered on the future of the Art Borups Corners program itself. Currently an ad-hoc arts collective funded by the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario, the group agreed by consensus to transition to a formal Not-for-Profit Corporation under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010.
The collective acknowledged and thanked the Local Services Board of Melgund, Terri Bell and Maurice Betournay, Krish Agrawal, Tony Eetak, Eva Suluk, Dr. Olaf Kuhlke and Dr. Wenqing Zhang for their commitment and support of our arts programming this year.
A new steering committee was established to manage this significant transition, with members including Karen Daignault, Norm Eady, and Jamie Bell. Congratulations to the new steering committee, who will be taking on responsibility for the next steps of incorporation.
Next Meeting
Art Borups Corners will hold its next working meeting on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Dyment Recreation Hall. Further action items and next steps related to the non-profit incorporation and upcoming programming will be discussed during and after the Melgund LSB Meeting on Monday, December 15, 2025, also at the Dyment Recreation Hall.
The Meeting concluded at 8:50 by consensus of the members.
