Following tonight’s meeting of the Local Services Board of Melgund, we will meet at 8:00 p.m. at the Dyment Recreation Hall for a focused discussion on the upcoming Integrated Impact Assessment for the NWMO Deep Geological Repository for used nuclear fuel. This session will concentrate on reviewing the current stage of the assessment process and the key issues that are most relevant to our community.

The deadline for submissions is February 4, 2026, and we are pleased to share that the majority of our submission has already been prepared. This meeting will provide an opportunity to confirm next steps, identify any final gaps, and ensure our perspectives are clearly and thoughtfully represented ahead of the deadline.
We will also discuss upcoming storytelling and local oral history projects. This has been an ongoing project since the summer of 2025 and we will plan for activities. We will also discuss new community-based research.
In addition, we will begin planning for Family Day and National Kindness Week, both taking place in February. These conversations will focus on activities and ideas that support community connection, care, and participation during the winter season.
All are welcome!
