Art Borups Corners Collective Meeting
The Art Borups Corners collective and the Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture steering committee met on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dyment Recreation Hall. In attendance were Jamie Bell, Terri Bell, Karen Daignault and Norm Eady.
Discussion Items
The primary business of the meeting focused on the administrative progress toward establishing a formal non-profit organization. The Steering Committee reviewed the necessary requirements for transitioning the group into a formal Not-for-Profit Corporation under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010. It was formally decided that the new organization will be named Melgund Recreation, Arts and Culture (MRAC).
The committee formally adopted an initial mission and vision statement for MRAC, which is designed to support and strengthen the communities of Melgund Township by offering inclusive arts, social, recreational, and cultural programming. The organization’s goal is to foster participation, reduce isolation, and create opportunities for residents of all ages to engage in creative, healthy, and community-building activities.
Furthermore, the new non-profit will support organizational capacity building through structured recreation programming, arts development, and community-based participatory research aimed at establishing sustainable community programs.
Next Meeting
The Steering Committee will present an update on these developments at the next Local Services Board Meeting on December 15. The Steering Committee’s next working session is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting concluded at 3:30 p.m.
