Each week we’ve been asking our team members to share some of the day-to-day activities they do. This week, we’re taking a look at northern shipping and supply chains and how goods are shipped from Manitoba to Arctic Nunavut. This week’s “day-in-the-life” photos are from Niriqatiginnga team member Tony Eetak.

This summer I am home in Nunavut with my family and having fun with my friends. I’ve been going out to take some pictures about what life is like and where we go to have fun. Here are some of my pictures that show different parts of my summer holiday.

This is called dwarf fireweed. It’s bright purple. Lots of them grow around Arviat and Kivalliq.

There are lots of murals in town. This one is on the Mark Kalluak Community Hall in Arviat, Nunavut. It’s the biggest mural in town.

Early morning smoke from forest fires in the NWT saw lots of people evacuate to southern Canada. The smoke in the morning made the sky look very red and the air smelled not so good.

Even though it was early morning and the sky should be a normal color the way was still red and orange.

As the day goes on it got brighter. But everything outside looked like an old photo with not a lot of color.

But the red and orange skies did not last. The sunshine came out again, and the skies were blue.
